This statement in the present moment expresses who we are now.
I will.
This statement while in the present moment expresses, what we will be in the future — a promise is conceived.
The promise made now becomes a present in the future!
According to Merriam-Webster a promise is a declaration that one will do something specified … that gives the person to whom it is made a right to expect …”
An Arabian proverb proclaims “A promise is a cloud; fulfillment is rain.”
As Peter F. Drucker wrote “Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans.”
Finally, a promise made in the past, fulfilled along the way, will become a present only when accepted, as a German proverb proclaims “Promises have legs. Only a gift has hands.”
So, who are we, who am I, now?
So, what promises are we, am I making now?
Which promise will become a gift which we give in the future?
And finally, Robert Frost penned one of my favorite verses “The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.”
