Coming Up — Just Around The Corner
I had three (3) celebrations with the family over the past few days. Now it can be affirmed “I have enough to eat… at least for a few days.
Wrapped presents, small and large, brightly wrapped create a sense of something “coming up;” just “around the corner” as boxes are carried into a room.
Kids of all ages and decades heft packages, shake packages.
A quizzical look creeps up on the face.
And then “WOW” “WHOOPE” and “YES” erupt from our mouths.
Delight generates joy.
G. K. Chesterton wrote “There is one thing which gives radiance to everything. It is the idea of something around the corner.”
For me the best gift revolves around people not seen for a period of time.
Accept a gift, share a gift, be a gift to someone who looks like he/she needs a gift of another smile.
While the White Queen in Alice In Wonderland may lament the absence of joy in the present moment when she said “Jam yesterday, jam tomorrow, but no jam today,” we can be “jam” for someone today.
